SANITY STRATEGIES for educators:
Behaviour tatics
2 hour workshop
This workshop fearlessly tackles the biggest issue in child care, schooling and after school care to date: dealing with aggression by both children (aged 2-12) and stressed out parents. We workshop strategies to deal with children in the throws of emotional meltdown - safely and effectively. Why it happens, how to prevent it, and finally how to manage violent situations and develop policy to report and minimise future occurrences.
Custody disputes have now become one of the most volatile situations that educators face in their hectic work day. RAVES self defence can address strategies to deal with aggressive parents: including active shooter situations, lock down procedures and even abduction prevention.
Prevention of violent outbursts by children:
o Duty of care implications and what are your rights to defend yourself and others.
o The impact of rest, noise, physical activity and nutrition on children’s behaviour.
o Brain training: teaching kids to 'calm the frontal lobe'.
Containing and controlling violent outbursts by children:
o Controlling biting, scratching, kicking and violent tantrums.
o What to do after the storm subsides: 'shake it out' and 'relaxation' programming, reporting and developing strategies to minimise future incidence.
Additional training in containing and controlling violent outbursts by parents:
o Conduct environmental and client scans to determine threats levels.
o Understanding the use of force spectrum and the application of lawful reasonable force.
o Practical application of the RAVES self defence rules and vocalisation drills to workplace scenarios.
o Practical application of self defence and vocalisation drills for employees.
o Improve and standardise workplace incident reporting and communication.
o The development of workplace relevant policies when dealing with aggressive parents.
o Understanding the importance of employee mental health and peer support.
